Constructive Criticism & You: Is it bad?
.+ The Truth About Concrit +.
Let's discuss.
♡ Hello from an elementary gal! I've noticed a lot of disdain for concrit from inexperienced gals, not fully understanding that it is a tool and is vital to your gal journey. Here I will discuss why it is crucial to gal & the community, and even something you want! Hear me out on this one, gals. You'll want to hear this.
♡ Let's first acknowledge that concrit comes out of a place of kindness and caring. You may be thinking I'm crazy for saying that if you're not fond of concrit, but stay with me here. It wasn't always this nice, in the old days you'd be treated very poorly for being inexperienced. There were websites where anonymous gals would plaster hate and vicious comments all over your pictures and tear you apart in comments, and these websites still exist. Now in common internet culture you're wondering why does this exist? Can't we stop it? No, hateful people online will always be hateful. Not every place is a safe space and that just has to be accepted online. What veterans are trying to prevent is you ending up as the subject in these spaces. The veterans are telling things you may not want to hear for your growth, and peace of mind. They do this in their free time, for free, for your benefit!
** Note: harassment and malicious behavior is not concrit and isn't tolerated. Concrit is never a personal attack and usually includes steps to improve.
♡ How do I know that concrit is extremely helpful & vital? Why do I have so many positive things to say about it, isn't all criticism mean? The truth is, I only started my journey a few months ago.. and without the help the veterans gave me I would've still been uneducated and not looking that great. In a few months my experience level was even bumped up! It all boils down to the fact they're trying to help you look and feel your best, out of kindness with true experience and resources. Constructive criticism is not an attack, it's a tool. It's up to you if you utilize or reject these tools. Rejecting them is entirely your choice, however it would ultimately be your fault if you did not grow and looked bad due to not accepting help. If you want to look bad then do so by all means! Just specify you don't want concrit and the vets won't waste their time trying to help you thrive. Yes this sounds rude but it is the truth! It's not nice to waste people's time and energy!
♡What would happen if concrit wasn't the default? Well, it's like a series of building blocks; similar to how math works. When people are missing bottom layers of the blocks structure, it falls apart and the build becomes incomprehensible as it's now just a pile of blocks in randomly placed areas, not a building. Similar to fashion. If you're missing basics or huge parts of the foundation of gal, your look will be incomprehensible with little gal elements around, not a gyaru look. If gal didn't have concrit, everyone would be missing blocks they didn't see and the fashion would become saturated with watered down looks that don't look gal at all and it would be unclear as to what gal even is.
♡But.. isn't gal just an attitude? Not entirely. The attitude is a part of it but ultimately it is a fashion culture, and in fashion it's about the look. If you don't look the part visually then you're just not gal as it is about fashion; the look. The attitude comes with it. It's a package deal, you can't have one without the other. If you don't have access to the fashion as of now, don't worry! Gal won't be for you now, but when you can access the resources you need it will be waiting for you.
Thanks for reading gals, hopefully this can educate and provide you a new point of view and understanding! If this culture isn't for you, it isn't for you and that's fine. If you receive concrit, don't fret! Use it and grow, your gal journey will be a lot more pleasant with it! ♡
This is beautifully written, thank you for sharing!!

This is so good! I remember when I started Gyaru there wasn't that many oportunities for constructive critisism, we should take care of ourselves because of those hate pages, however now I definitely think the community is way better than before and veterans are more empathetic and try to help with love. Obviously we're not a perfect comm, but now baby gals have the space to grow and learn.♡♡♡
